This is us
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Love him with all your mind. This is the first and most important commandment. And the second is like it. ‘Love your neighbour as you love yourself.’" Matthew 22:37-39
Over the past 6 weeks we've been reminding ourselves of the vision and values of our church.
Love God. Love people.
Simple, yet powerful, this is the vision of Hope Church Lytham based on the two greatest commandments. We look first to God, to love and obey Him, to seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness. Second, we love those around us, we put their needs above our own, and seek to serve them in whatever way we can.
Pursuing the heart of God
"Seek first the Kingdom of God". As followers of Christ we should be continually growing and developing our relationship with God. He longs for relationship with His children, and because of Jesus, we have access to the Father. As we passionately pursue Him, He reveals to us more of who He is, and who we can be in Him.
Helping people find their God-given purpose
As God begins to reveal to us our identity in Him, we can see that the passions, skills and experience from our lives equip us to effectively serve His Kingdom. We have been put here "for such a time as this" and He delights in us as we walk in the purpose He has planned out for our lives.
Bringing hope to the community
When you read parables like the Good Samaritan, and reflect on the life and ministry of Jesus, it's clear that the message of hope is one that we should all carry. People often search for hope in a number of ways, but true hope is found in Jesus. "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hopeand a future."
Restoring the broken-hearted
We live in a lost and hurting world, with constant conflict and wars, the rise in poor mental health and suicide, particularly among young people. We have a passion to bring restoration to those who are hurting. Pastor Ruth shared a powerful message on this subject and is in the process of launching Kardia, a mental health course for young people blending neuroscience and faith.
Creating a culture of generosity
Generosity comes in all kinds of shapes and sizes. We believe the in the same way God blesses us, we can be a blessing to those around us. Jesus said "it is greater to give than to receive". We should be intentional and extravagant in our generosity, with our time, our talents, and our treasures.
